Kurt Hogan
Kurt Hogan

Entertainment industry mainstay Kurt Hogan will be coming to Hub TV
screens starting this weekend as host of The Unscene, a
new weekly series that premieres this Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. on
TV38.
A producer, writer and on-air personality,
Hogan actually started his career as a model before transitioning to
acting roles. His desire for more creative control, and a thirst to
learn the entertainment business from the inside, soon led him to pursue
opportunities behind the camera, where he found success in producing
and directing music videos, television programs and films.
After many years in the industry,
Hogan returned to school, graduating magna cum laude from Norfolk State
University in Virginia, with a degree in TV journalism and mass communication.
Soon after, he landed his first television news reporting assignment
at the CBS affiliate in Salisbury, Md., before jumping to a bigger market
and the NBC-owned station in Birmingham, Ala. In Birmingham, Hogan garnered
national acclaim for his coverage of the infamous church bombing trial
that led to a guilty verdict for two Ku Klux Klan members some 30 years
after the crime. His reporting on the events following the Sept. 11,
2001, terrorist attacks also earned professional accolades.
After stops in Raleigh/Durham, N.C.,
and Charleston, S.C., Hogan returned to Norfolk, where he finished a
second masters degree in media management while reporting for
the CBS affiliate there and hosting the Quiet Storm show
on the local KISS-FM radio station.
On The Unscene, Hogan
will be joined each week by a co-host including Trina Fernandez
of Wellesley, Mass. and actress Lisa Ferria of Long Island, N.Y.
to present entertainment news and reality TV, while giving viewers an
insiders look at the world of entertainment. The program will
showcase people whose talents and perseverance have led them to success,
from celebrities living each day in the spotlight to often-unsung achievers
in control from behind the scenes.
The Unscene, which was
conceived by executive producer Ron Mitchell, is developed and produced
by Roxbury-based RDM Productions.
A big thank you to the Banner.
